The royal blue textured element - applied as a series of repeating circular patterns on a navy blue base - is an homage to the 3D monograms often seen on Manchester United kits from 30 years ago.

The design also pays tribute to the three rivers that flow through Manchester - the Irk, Medlock and Irwell - which have special significance for Manchester United as the intersection of the Theatre of Dreams and the city. Three lighter shades of blue run through the polo club collar, connecting fans and players to the club's home while playing in the away colors.

The design is finished off with silver detailing through the iconic adidas three stripes on each shoulder, the adidas and sponsor logo and the Manchester United devil on the back of the collar, giving a modern and premium finish to the club's famous icon.
